The Pit is a monthly gathering around a Fire Pit for lads (year 9+), dads and men to explore issues of life and faith. We meet at the back of Buxton Community Church every fourth Sunday from 8 – 9:15pm, and we aim to be a welcoming place where everyone can explore the big issues of life. Wherever you are on the journey of faith, we’d love to have you along!

Who can attend?

If you’re a young person age 13/14 upwards (year 9+) you’d be welcome - with or without a parent. If you’re a dad and would like to bring along your son (year 9+), we’d love to have you along too.

We just ask that you let us know you’re coming - which you can do by emailing ThePitBuxton@gmail.com or if you come along to church chat to Ed, James or Jason.

What can I expect?

You can expect a warm welcome around a fire pit!

You can also have a chance to explore a key theme in life and hear insights from the Bible on that theme — as well as someone sharing from their own life about it. This doesn’t mean you need to be a Christian to come along —  The Pit is a space for everyone interested in the deep questions of life.

You can also expect a time to chat about some of these issues with others. Those who bring their dads will have an opportunity to chat with them about the issues, but you can also come without a dad and chat with others.

What are some of the ‘deep questions’ we’ll be exploring around the Pit?

Glad you asked! We’ll be exploring some of the big issues in life, but also issues that affect men and young men alike. In the coming months, we’ll explore themes of 'Hope' (March), 'Courage' (April), 'Identity' (May 27th) and 'Service' (June 24th).
